Valentines Day

                                  Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Yesterday was Elliona's Valentine's Day party at school.  So, of course, we had to make a SUPER cute V-day box and sweet little treat for her to pass out to her classmates!!!  She's really into the movie Tangled, so "we" (meaning I) made Rapunzel's tower.  It turned out really cute!!

I found a picture of her on-line and cut out a window frame.  Behind the frame I glued in the shear fabric for curtains and braided some yellow ribbon for her hair.  The little flowers going up the side are made of crunched up tissue paper.  It took about 3 hours to make it!!!  Probably a normal person could do it much faster, but I am a perfectionist!!!!

For her class treats I made Valentines Marshmallow Treats.  They turned out really cute and tasty!!!!  I got the idea for them here

Ohhhhh, I thought I was never going to be done wrapping and tying ribbon on suckers!!!!  I pretty much worked on them all afternoon on Sunday!!!  Elli was so happy, so that's all that counts!!!

Enjoy your day and I hope it's full of LOVE!!!!!!!

Elliona's Braids

My daughter, Elliona, who is 5 always has to look "pretty" when she goes somewhere.  Whether that place is Walmart, pre-school or the library, she says "I have to be pretty, mom!!"  Pretty to her cute-little-5-year-old-girl mind is a pair of pink leggings, a tutu and any pink shirt she can find, paired with her super glittery silver ballet flats.  Oh... to be a kid again!!!  This is who she is and I love that she can use her clothing to express herself!!!  But, lately she has been requesting that I braid her hair to look like Rapunzel's or a princess's.  This totally took me by surprise!!!!  I have to chase her around the house with a comb for 15 minutes just to brush her hair, so this was totally out of the norm!!!  Not to mention this past summer I put her hair into a halo braid for the first time and she freaked out the whole time.  I swore I would never do it again!!

Here is a pic of it!  She wasn't very happy that I was taking her picture after I tortured her!!

I thought it turned out really cute and she received a lot of compliments on her hair that day!  So, time went by and it was Christmas Eve and I thought I would give the french braid thing a shot again!  Hoping that maybe we could make it through without so much crying!  Nope, not so much, but it did turn out really cute and of course she said she hated it!

Again, she is not happy!!  But look how cute those piggies are!!!

Everything changed when we were bringing her to see Disney Princesses on Ice last month.  She asked for me to braid her hair like Rapunzel's for the show!  I was hesitant, but she was persistent and promised she would sit still and not cry!  And that is exactly what she did!!  She even asked me to put extra curls in it with the curling iron (she has naturally curly hair).

She loved it!!

The other night we were going out to dinner and she pulled out her normal go-to pretty outfit and asked for "princess hair", so everyone there would tell her she looked pretty!!

This is what I came up with!  It was cute!

Now, I am starting to think I might have a little princess diva on my hands!!!  I am so happy that she is finally letting me do her hair!!  That's one of the fun things of having a girl, dressing her up and doing her hair!!
